N.A.S

Hong Kong

Description
N.A.S (Not A Sushi) is a playful intent to introduce Gimbap, a Korean-style sushi to a wider audience and differentiate from Japanese maki rolls. A simpe, light, clean brand image and interior design for a simple food. The design introduces subtle details through material textures. Wooden finishes add warmth and highlight whilst complimenting the brand aesthetic. The shop front is a clean and light facade which is in contrast to the organic messiness of the many local stores along the streets.

HANMADANG

HANMADANG

Hong Kong

Description
Hanmadang takes reference from the spatial relationship of traditional Korean 'hanok' houses. The relationship between the exterior and the interior; the madang and maru. The layout was influenced by the previous floor finish which was largely kept for budget reasons but also helped identify a central open floor area which would become the madang and all spaces in relation would become the maru, separated by an architectural enclosure which would house isolated rooms.

ONE DOT STUDIO

Beijing, China

Description
One Dot Studio is an art gallery cum art studio for learning. The gallery portion was envisioned to be an openly public space, one in which people from the outside would feel comfortable to enter as they felt they were still in a public space. The design creates this experience by inserting an architectural volume in which there is a public lane surrounding it. Along this lane, the art works are displayed along the wall surfaces whilst inside the volume on the lower level would house the art studio. This maintains the flexibility of the art gallery being able to extend to the interior when needed. The upper floor houses a gallery section for sculpted works and a private office area. The slit between the 'house' reveals the existence of the upper floor whilst also playfully breaking down its volumetric scale.

CHILL WHISKEY BAR

Shenzhen, China

Description
Chill Whiskey Bar is envisioned to provide a 'chill' experience whilst specializing in the fine art of whiskey. The design reveals the unique condition of the ceiling and accentuates it through ceiling slats and light features which run along the ceiling profile. The large volume is also revealed at the shop front with full height framed glass but takes a play on the speakeasy in which the bars are hidden. In this case the bar is widely exposed, however the entrance itself is hidden and separated by a lobby.

ATLAS GUESTHOUSE

Hong Kong

Description
Atlas Guesthouse, a converted residential unit which has been subdivided into nine smaller rooms with a lobby area. The intent was to provide a guesthouse experience that was reasonably spacious and of a higher standard than what was available in the market at the targeted price point. The design creates a unified identity throughout the spaces from the lift lobby through to the check-in lobby and into the rooms, creating an experience of professional hospitality. The signature rooms which have a open view to the Kowloon Park are designed with raised platforms and mattresses in response to the deep structural elements and to keep the experience closer to the floor to give a feeling of a larger space.
